More business on Saturdays
Milwaukee Journal, The, Apr 8, 1995
Welcome to the new Saturday Journal Sentinel business section. It's much larger than the old Sentinel Saturday section, which had one page of news and minimal market tables. And there's no comparison with the old Saturday Journal (it didn't have a business section).
Because weekly stock figures are available to us Friday night, we're giving them to you hot the next morning the same day they appear in some financial newspapers. We'll also provide you with lots of investment information, including Kathleen Gallagher's "Street Smart" column.
Weekly mutual fund tables will continue to appear on Sunday. This split enables us to bring you better tables and more news on both days. Our weekly stock tables include 52-week highs and lows, more New York stocks and twice the number of Nasdaq stocks than appeared in either the Journal or Sentinel.
The Saturday tables also include dividends and price- earnings ratios a major concern of readers. After talking to many of you, we decided to publish information that changes each day sales, high, low, close and change in our weekday tables. Information that changes less often dividend and p/e appear on Saturday. Each day we'll publish any announced dividend changes.
