Nicolet girls race to a title

Nicolet was the resounding winner at the North Shore Conference girls indoor track meet Tuesday night at the Whitefish Bay Fieldhouse with 109.5 points. Menomonee Falls was second with 92 points and Port Washington came in third with 74.5 points.
Nicolet's Adrienne Trice placed first in both the 220-yard dash (27.52 seconds) and 440 (1 minute 5.5 seconds). Teammate Ayanna Mackins won the two- mile run and placed second in the mile.
Port Washington's Heidi Statler won the shot put with an effort of just over 35 feet. Karin Haber of Port Washington beat Mackins in the mile by almost 3 seconds. Haber won the 880 with a time of 2:36.4.
Other teams at the meet and their point totals: Germantown, 53; Homestead, 48; Grafton, 44; Whitefish Bay, 34; and Cedarburg, 26.
Southeast Conference: Racine Park edged Racine Horlick by just two points for first place in the South Division indoor meet at Kenosha Bradford.
Racine Park finished with 82 points. Kenosha Tremper came in third with 69 points, followed by Racine Case and Kenosha Bradford.
Girls soccer: West Allis Central beat Muskego, 5-0. Becky Borrissey scored two goals, both on assists from Angie Young, the first coming in the 16th minute and the second in the 35th. Young, Sara Harrington and Sarah Gardner also scored.
In the Southern Lakes Conference, Badger and Elkhorn tied, 2-2. Hanni Torhorst scored first for Badger at 2:50. Elkhorn's Liz Leirsle scored in the 32nd minute on a pass from Brooke Van Dyke. Van Dyke scored an unassisted goal in the 57th minute. Badger's final goal was scored by Magill Railton in the 67th minute.
Softball: Senior first baseman Erin Bartosz of Catholic Memorial hit two doubles and drove in four runs, helping the Crusaders defeat Divine Savior Holy Angels, 10-6.
