The Lake Effect

All I wanna do is eat some brats
Yeah, yeah, that's not how the song goes. But you're in Milwaukee now, Sheryl Crow.
The triple Grammy winner, who performs tonight at the Riverside Theatre, is in for a treat if a post-show bash at downtown's Cafe Melange in the Hotel Wisconsin goes off as planned.
The bash is the brainchild of Crow's drummer and Beloit native Wally Ingram. Because tonight's show marks both Crow's Wisconsin debut and the last date on the band's US tour, Ingram, 32, arranged to celebrate with a classic Dairy State bash, complete with brats, beer, cheese, potato salad and, possibly, Jell-O molds. There's no word on whether Crow will show after the show, but indicators are promising.
Hometown heavyweights rub elbows
Comedian Chris Farley and actress Judith Light, both ex- Milwaukeeans, sat next to each other on NBC's "Tonight" Monday. Glancing at the huge Farley, star of "Saturday Night Live" and the No. 1 movie "Tommy Boy," Light said: "I was once 50 pounds overweight."
Farley, whose specialty is giggling and acting very silly (and getting plugged in this column), did both.
What? A kid who hasn't seen "Jurassic Park?"
As the dinosaurs began to prowl during a performance of First Stage Milwaukee's kiddie show "Dinosaur" during the weekend, a youthful voice shrieked from the last row. "I want to go home. I'm scared." The tone of voice reflected terror, and it brought down the house.
A minute or two later, another youthful voice stated with an air of superiority, "I know those are people in dinosaur suits."
