Omni Bank reopens in New Orleans' Central Business District, plans
CityBusiness Staff ReportOmni Bank will reopen its branch in the Central Business District tomorrow and is planning to hire people to staff branches around the city.
A month after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, Omni is opening its branch at 330 Carondelet St. at 9 a.m. It is one of the first bank branches to open in the CBD and will conduct business between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays.
We expect to see a lot of activity at our re-opened CBD branch, said Jim Hudson, Omni Bank president and CEO. All of our locations have been extremely busy serving the needs of customers returning home. It's proof that commerce is coming back to the New Orleans metropolitan area, and it's very encouraging news for our all of us as residents and business operators.
In order to staff its branches, Omni is holding a job fair Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accept applications for employees with experience in retail banking. Applicants should apply in person only at the Omni branch located at 285 W. Esplanade Ave. at the corner of Loyola Avenue.
Omni Bank is moving forward with its previously announced plans to renovate the Western Union Building in the CBD and move into the location next year. That facility also received only minor damage during Hurricane Katrina.
