Provo, W.V. get grants from HUD program

Deseret News (Salt Lake City),  Sep 25, 2005

WASHINGTON -- Provo and West Valley City will receive $4,470,144 in combined funds from three programs under the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Provo will receive the lion's share, about $3.4 million, including $1.9 million under the Community Development Block Grant Program to develop viable urban communities and to expand economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income people, and $1.4 million to expand affordable housing.

West Valley will receive $1.1 million in community block grants for urban community development and expanded economic opportunities.

"These programs are important resources to cities, counties and states throughout the country to provide decent, affordable housing. Communities are strengthened through homeownership, and these funds will go a long way towards helping people make that dream come true," said Rep. Chris Cannon.
