Caption only: Spirited triumph for 2 BYU teams

Deseret News (Salt Lake City),  Feb 16, 2005

Brigham Young University teams finished first and second at the United Spirit Association Collegiate National Championships in Las Vegas earlier this month. The Cougarettes, at top left, won the college dance team competition and the cheer squad, bottom left and at right, at the Sept. 4 football game against Notre Dame, finished second in the co-ed cheer competition.

Both teams competed in the large-university divisions, a first for the cheer squad. The teams performed both preliminary and final routines on a Monday because of BYU's policy not to compete on Sundays. The Cougarettes will compete in the NDA National Dance Championships, which they have won four times, in Daytona Beach, Fla., in April.
