St. Louis office of HOK names principal for design

St. Louis Daily Record & St. Louis Countian,  Mar 4, 2005  by St. Louis Daily Record Staff

Ripley Rasmus, senior vice president and design principal in the St. Louis office of HOK, has been named office principal for design in the firm's north central region, which includes its St. Louis and Chicago offices.

In his new role, Rasmus will lead the firm's design strategy and coordinate the work of other senior designers in these offices. Rasmus has chaired HOK's regional design leadership committee since its inception in 2001. He has played an instrumental role in the firm's sustainable design strategies by guiding new interpretations of building programs and urban sites defined by sustainable building technologies.

Key recent projects led by Rasmus include the $980 million Indianapolis International Airport Midfield Terminal in Indianapolis; the Enterprise Operations Center in St. Louis; the WiTel Technology Center in Tulsa, Okla.; the Edificio Malecon and Torre La Nacion buildings in Buenos Aires, Argentina; and the Lansing Convention Center in Lansing, Mich. Many of the projects incorporate the industry's most advanced sustainable design features.

In 1999 and 2002, Rasmus was the recipient of the St. Louis AIA Honor Award for Architecture for the design of the Edificio Malecon office and WiTel Technology Center projects. Edificio Malecon also netted him the 2000 Bianale de Architecture Award and the 2002 AIA Top 10 Green Project Award. In 2003, HOK won another St. Louis AIA Honor Award for Rasmus' design of the Indianapolis Airport Terminal.

Rasmus earned a master's degree in architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor's degree in architecture from North Dakota State University.
