OKC Deaconess Hospital volunteer auxiliary celebrates its 40th
Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), May 11, 2005 by Journal Record Staff
The 204-member volunteer auxiliary at Deaconess Hospital raised more than $200,000 in 2004 for the 313-bed facility.
The volunteers serve in more than 30 areas throughout Deaconess Hospital and Deaconess at Bethany. They staff the information desk and gift shop seven days a week. Last year they contributed over 55,000 hours of service.
This month the auxiliary celebrates its 40th anniversary. One member, Betty Wayman, is a charter member and helped start the auxiliary.
I have very young college students to ninety-five year olds, said Glenda Cotton, director of volunteer services at Deaconess.
The volunteers were honored on Tuesday with a celebration.
