Gary L. Bloom

WETMORE --- Gary L. Bloom, 63, Wetmore, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, near Wetmore. He was born April 4, 1941, near Goff, the son of Irvin L. and Ida Niehues Bloom. He graduated from Bancroft High School and lived most of his life in the Wetmore area.

Mr. Bloom operated a backhoe business and also worked for the city of Wetmore. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

He was married to Mary Lee Schleif on June 4, 1962, in Corning. She died April 12, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald Bloom and Jim Bloom and his wife, Alane, both of Wetmore; three daughters, Marsha Bloom and Michele Bloom, both of Wetmore, and Melody Bloom, Topeka; two sisters, Ginger Meyer, Wetmore, and Linda Gerhardt, Holton; two brothers, Ronald Bloom and LeRoy Bloom, both of Goff; and two grandsons, Curtis Allen Bloom and Eric Lee Bloom.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Wetmore Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday followed by visitation at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the St. James Catholic Church, sent in care of the funeral home or the church.

Theresa E. 'Pat' Boudreau

LAWRENCE --- Mass of Christian burial for Theresa E. "Pat" Boudreau, 89, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lawrence. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. Mrs. Boudreau died Monday, July 12, 2004, at a Lawrence hospital. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Robert Lewis Carlson

LAWRENCE --- Robert Lewis Carlson, 83, Lawrence, died Saturday, July 10, 2004. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence. The family will greet friends at the church following services. The family suggests memorial contributions to the church and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence.

Eugene Albert 'Gene' Coder

WAMEGO --- Eugene Albert "Gene" Coder, 77, Yucca Valley, Calif., died Wednesday, July 7, 2004.

He was born April 18, 1927, in Wamego, the son of Ralph Albert and Leona Gladys Fleck Coder.

He enlisted in the Navy on his 16th birthday and served during World War II. He remained in California and became an electronics engineer, specializing in sonar technology. He was employed by the Bendix Corp. and then formed his own company and served as a consultant.

Mr. Coder married Jacque Ryan on Oct. 13, 1950. She survives.

Also surviving is a son, Ron Coder, Poway, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a brother, James Coder, Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Muriel Grant; and four brothers, Ralph, Bob, Frank and Andy.

He was cremated. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Wamego City Cemetery. Wiefels and Son Funeral Home in Yucca Valley, Calif., are in charge of arrangements.

Emma M. Coons

OSAGE CITY --- Emma M. Coons, 92, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at the Osage City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Osage City.

Mary Emma Marshall was born on Sept. 25, 1911, in Reading, the daughter of James Arthur and Mary Boisson Marshall. She graduated from Reading High School in 1929. She lived the majority of her life in Osage County.

Mrs. Coons had taught school in Lyon and Osage Counties for a few years. She also helped farm with her husband in Osage County for many years. She bought and sold antiques for many years.

Mrs. Coons was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osage City. She also had been a Red Cross volunteer and active at the Osage City Senior Center.

She married George L. Coons on Nov. 20, 1937, in Leavenworth. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1998.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Marshall and John Marshall; and a sister, Ann M. Gilmore.

Survivors include a brother, James Marshall, Topeka; two sisters, Reva Bolene, Wichita, and Irene Martin, El Paso, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crable VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Interment will follow in the Osage City Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before service time. She will lie in state from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Osage City Senior Center and sent in care of the funeral home.

Raymond Maurice Davis

GARNETT --- Funeral services for Raymond Maurice Davis, 78, Garnett, who died Sunday, July 11, 2004, in Garnett, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Garnett. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Westlawn Cemetery in Topeka. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Paul L. Jameson

HOLTON --- Paul L. Jameson, 95, Holton, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at the Holton Hospital. Survivors include his sons, Donald Jameson, Yakima, Wash., and Roger Jameson, Holton; and a brother, Homer Jameson, Topeka. Services will be announced by Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
