It was all Nebraska at the 41st annual Mid-States Intercollegiate Bowling Championship on Sunday afternoon at West Ridge Lanes .

Out of 20 teams, including Kansas, competing in the men's tournament, the Cornhuskers took home the first- and third-place trophies. The Huskers also won the women's title.

"Nebraska has a long-standing tradition of being a real strong program," Kansas coach Michael Fine said. "To have two teams in the three is exceptional. I don't ever remember any team doing that."

Kansas had a respectable showing in its first tournament of the year. The men's crimson team was fourth and the men's blue team finished eighth. KU's women's team was seventh.

Fine said he was happy with his team's performance considering it was its first of the year.

"Actually, we're real pleased," he said. "A number of these teams are up to their third tournament in the year."

Because the field was strong --- besides Nebraska, KU faced bowling powers Wichita State and Central Missouri State --- Fine was impressed with his men's teams' finish.

Fine was extremely happy that his crimson team finished ahead of Central Missouri, because the Mules had won their previous two tournaments.

"I'm excited because I think this bodes well for us on both sides," he said.

Kansas sophomore Glenn Harrison averaged 216 for the tournament, and bowled a single-game team-high 278, good for third overall in the tournament.
