Fire at Pacifica complex displaces six residents

Oakland Tribune,  Apr 12, 2008  by Louis Bohan

PACIFICA -- North County Fire Authority firefighters and paramedics treated one resident for smoke inhalation Friday after battling a two-alarm fire on the second floor of an apartment complex at 2400 Skyline Blvd., according to fire authority Inspector Clyde Preston.

Six residents who were displaced by the fire have found refuge with family members and friends. Meanwhile, the investigation into the cause of the fire, which resulted in approximately $500,000 in damage, will continue, Preston said.

Firefighters responded to the fire shortly after 9 a.m. and found smoke billowing from a four-unit complex at Skyline Vista Apartments, Preston said.

The blaze went to two alarms, Preston said, but it was contained within 30 minutes. Nearby buildings in the multi-structure plaza were not damaged.

Due to the intensity of the fire, the authority's Urban Search and Rescue team responded after containment to secure and stabilize the building so that investigators could enter safely, according to Battalion Chief John Healy.
