10-year-old boy run over by bus identified
Oakland Tribune, Mar 23, 2008 by Bay City News
SAN RAMON (BCN) -- A 10-year-old boy who was run over by a shuttle bus in front of his home in San Ramon Friday has been identified as Daniel Pan, a Contra Costa County deputy coroner said today.
Daniel had been riding his bicycle on the sidewalk at about 3:30 p.m., but then went off the corner of a curb into the street at the intersection of Montevideo and Veracruz drives just as a bus started moving, San Ramon police Sgt. Eric Webb said.
The front end of the bus struck the boy's side then drove over him, Webb said.
Daniel was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, Webb said.
The two passengers on board the bus were not injured.
Webb said the bus driver was cooperating with the investigation and volunteered to have his blood tested to prove alcohol was not a factor.
Daniel's family lives just a few houses down from where he was run over, police said.
