JAIME "JIM" ROXAS BAGIS

Jaime "Jim" Roxas Bagis was born on August 4, 1945 in the Philippines. He was the eldest of 3 children born to Salome and Captain Roberto Bagis. He grew up in the Philippines, and then he moved to the US in the early 1960's. He married Brenda Yumang on April 3, 1971 in San Francisco, CA. A year later they welcomed their first child, Maristelle Joy, in Daly City, CA. In 1976, they welcomed their son Jeffrey James. Although he loved his family so, his first love was his 1969 Firebird, which he was always upgrading, until the family moved to Fremont in 1981. He loved sharing his passion for music with his friends and family, by playing his limited collection of the Beatles, Cliff Richards, and The Shadows. A perfect day for him would start out on a golf course to play 18 holes, followed by a family gathering with mahjong games in full effect. He devoted 25 years of his career to Federal Express, where he met some of his lifelong friends. In September 2007, his newest love and first Granddaughter, Avalon Joy, was born. He was a loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. He was always welcoming, accommodating, and very unselfish. At home with his family was what he truly loved, which was how his final days were spent. Friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, today, March 19, from 4:30 - 8:30 pm at CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES 32992 Mission Blvd., in Hayward. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 34700 Fremont Blvd., in Fremont, Thursday March 20 at 11 am. Burial will follow at CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES in Hayward. Margaret Louise Sundberg Couche

85, wife of James Couche, mother of four, grandmother of eleven and great grandmother of Jaiden Louise, died on March 14, 2008, surrounded by family and friends in her home soon after holding her precious new great granddaughter. There never was and never will be found a person to say an unkind word about her.

Marge, also called Jerry, was born in Globe, Arizona, and graduated in San Diego from Point Loma High. She was an aviation radio operator with a favored voice during WWII. She married Lt. James Couche, USNR, upon his return from the war and they raised four children. At age fifty, she became a nurse, the oldest that year to pass the test. And she helped raise her grandchildren too. She had a passion for infants and took in many foster children. Upon learning she had cancer, she made and achieved the goal of holding on until she could rock her first great grandchild.

An active member of the Holy Cross family, a smart bidder in bridge, a golfer and bowler, and one of the last great letter writers, Mom liked people. She was humble in the extreme, helpful to all and always found the good news in life. She knitted and crocheted blankets for babies and old folks, and she never believed she'd gotten old. Her church family should know that she worried the communion bread she baked didn't taste good enough. No son or daughter was better loved, no husband better supported, no friend more loved and sustained, than by Mom. If you needed a lift, she drove.
