Oakland Tribune, Mar 13, 2008
OAKLAND _ Firefighters took 20 minutes to put out a fire in a fourth floor laundry room in a 28 unit apartment building at 751 Peralta St. this morning.
Oakland Fire Lt. David Brue said the first fire crew on the scene shortly after 10:43 a.m. found heavy smoke coming out of the rear of the fourth floor. The fire started in the laundry room, but there was some water and smoke damage to nearby apartments, Brue said.
The Red Cross was on the scene to assist tenants, he said. There were no injuries. Fire investigators were on scene looking for the cause of the fire. There was no damage estimate available.
