Lowhorn leads USF past Loyola

SAN DIEGO -- Dior Lowhorn scored 26 points, and Manny Quezada added 24 to lead USF to a 79-60 win over Loyola Marymount on Friday night in the first round of the West Coast Conference tournament.
Lowhorn, the league's leading scorer, scored 14 in the second half, and Quezada had 19 as No.5 seed USF (10-20) slowly pulled away in the final 10 minutes. The Dons will face No.4 seed Santa Clara at 6 p.m. in today's quarterfinals.
Interim USF coach Eddie Sutton, the winningest active Division I coach, recorded his 804th career victory. Orlando Johnson led Loyola Marymount (5-26) with 19 points.
In the late game, Pepperdine defeated Portland 50-48 in overtime, and the Waves will play host No. 3 seed San Diego tonight at 8:30.
Sacramento State fires men's coach
SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State dismissed men's basketball coach Jerome Jenkins after eight seasons. Jenkins went 80-147 with the Hornets, who plummeted to a 4-24 record this season, finishing last in the Big Sky Conference and missing the league tournament for the second straight year.

ST. LOUIS -- Adam Emmenecker had 13 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double, and No. 20 Drake (26-4) beat Indiana State (15-16) in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.

SAN JOSE -- Taylor Lilley hit four 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead Oregon over Washington State in the opening game of the Pac-10 Conference tournament.
Ellie Manou added 15 points for the seventh-seeded Ducks, who advanced to play No.2 seed Cal today at 1:15 p.m.
In the late game, Oregon State defeated Arizona 46-31 and will play top-seeded Stanford today at 5 p.m.
