Oakland Tribune,  Oct 22, 2005  by STAFF REPORTS

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Andy Fernandez rushed for 80 yards on eight carries and scored two touchdowns to lead the California School for the Deaf to a 28-26 win over host Mission College Prep on Friday night in non-league action.

Quarterback Nick Hickman completed just one pass, but it was a 63- yard strike to Richard Rouse (71 yards receiving).

De La Salle 35, Pittsburg 13

PITTSBURG -- De La Salle running back Tim Maupin had two 1-yard touchdown runs and also threw a 25-yard scoring pass to Vincent Colvis. Quarterback Mike McGillivray added a 36-yard touchdown run and found Mario D'Ambrosio for a 56-yard score.

Running back Tilman Pugh had 107 yards on 13 carries in his first start.

"I'm real happy with the way my offense played," De La Salle coach Bob Ladouceur said after the Spartans improved to 5-2 overall with their 21st consecutive victory over Pittsburg (5-2). "We're coming along."

Ladouceur (300-19-3) thus becomes only the third coach in California with 300 career victories.
