Panel to speak on 3 special election propositions

,

OAKLAND -- A panel of experts will speak about three Nov. 8 election propositions related to education during a live TV call-in program Thursday.

During the one-hour show, Peralta Community College faculty members, staff and students will discuss the pros and cons of Proposition 74, which would increase teacher probationary status from two to five years; Proposition 75, which would require state employee unions to get written permission to use union money for political campaigns; and Proposition 76, which would eliminate the funding protection schools now have.

Sponsored by the Peralta Community College District and the League of Women Voters, the call-in program will air from 8 to 9 p.m. Thursday on PCTV cable channel 28 in Oakland, Piedmont and Emeryville and on cable channel 27 in Alameda and Berkeley. Viewers will be able to call the program to ask questions of the panel.
