Laney looks to keep streak going

Oakland Tribune,  Oct 21, 2005  by Scott Strain, CORRESPONDENT

OAKLAND -- The Laney College football team will attempt to win its second straight Golden Gate Conference game when it plays host to Los Medanos College at 7 tonight.

The Eagles (5-1 overall, 1-0 GGC), ranked eighth in Northern California and 14th in the state, are coming off a 44-15 victory over West Valley College. The Mustangs (4-2, 0-1) lost to Chabot 42- 6 in their GGC opener last week.

"They haven't played the competition we have," Laney defensive coordinator Jay Uchiumi said of the Mustangs. "They are always a well-coached team, and we have to look out for them. They've beaten us two out of the last four years. We're not taking them lightly, that's for sure.
