Oakland Tribune,  Nov 18, 2004  by STAFF WRITER

ALAMEDA -- The Academy of Hawaiian Arts performs its dramatic hula production "Ho'okahi" Sunday in Kofman Auditorium.

The performance fuses hula dance with chanting, drumming and contemporary Hawaiian music, taking the audience on a musical, rhythmical journey through the history and mythology of the islands.

Under the direction of kuma hulas (teachers) Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu, whose music can be heard on Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" soundtrack, and Renee Ku'uleinani Price, the performance will include both men's and women's hulas and a debut by the academy's keiki (children) dancers.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at http:// www.ahahula.com Call 595-3970 for details.
