COME ON YOU WEDS ..STARS GET HITCHED: MAN & WIFFE
Sunday Mirror, Sep 11, 2005 by GRANT HODGSON, BEN TODD
IT WAS billed as the fairytale showbusiness wedding of the year - so trashy glamour model Jordan and Peter Andre were determined not to disappoint yesterday.
With the small matter of a pounds 1.75million cheque from a sycophantic magazine helping the nuptials run smoothly, Jordan and Peter orchestrated a bash which even Liberace would have been proud of.
The model, real name Katie Price, made sure she pulled out all the stops for the ceremony at Highclere Castle in Berkshire - a favourite shooting haunt of the queen and the family seat of the Earl of Caernarvon. More than 350 guests, including "celebrity" friends, helped the pair clamber into a kitsch pink egg-shaped carriage.
Six white horses then took Jordan and Peter - who met in Australia as contestants on I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! in January 2004 - to the castle library where the 34FF model, dressed in an outfit with a 27ft train, managed to say: "I do."
The ceremony, which began at four o'clock, was attended by Jordan's three-year-old son, Harvey, whose dad is footballer Dwight Yorke, and the happy couple's two-month-old son Junior. Guests arrived for the bash in blacked-out cars - in a bid to keep her magazine deal on track.
Jordan herself, though, made her entrance in a helicopter - wearing high-heeled shoes complete with pink satin ribbon ankle ties.
Bridesmaid Kerry Katona turned up in a minibus smoking a cigarette. Kerry - who became pals with Jordan during her I'm A Celebrity stint - carried the ladies' bouquets of deep purple and white flowers with ferngrass.
With fellow bridesmaid Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud and "celebrity" guests such as former England star Paul Gascoigne, TV presenter Vanessa Feltz and Liberty X's Michelle Heaton looking on, the couple signed the register while the choir sang Stevie Wonder's hit Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours.
A room was set aside for women guests so they could all be made up by a professional beautician.
Guests were then led to a marquee - with pink carpet on the floor and pink drapes hanging from the ceiling - where they were served pink champagne and a five-course dinner.
Later the floor was cleared for the DJ and a karaoke machine to lead the guests into a night of singing and dancing.
The marriage went ahead despite a fit of bridal nerves, by the way.
At the Friday evening rehearsal, Jordan had broken down, saying: "It's too much, let's just call it off... I want it to be right - I want it to be the most perfect wedding ever."
-BOOKMAKERS William Hill are offering odds on which of yesterday's celebrity wedding couples will be first to split up. Jodie Kidd is favourite to divorce first at 5/4 followed by Corrie actress Samia Ghadie at 6/4, then Jordan and Peter at 3/1. GMTV's Kate Garraway fares better at only 6/1.
