'The next year will show Gordon Brown has been underestimated'

Independent on Sunday, The,  Aug 12, 2007

Les Hinton, the chairman of News International, gave a rare interview to Esquire. He defended Sun editor Rebekah Wade and ducked questions over the conviction of ex-News of the World royal editor Clive Goodman, jailed after hacking into royal household messages. He was impressed by the new Prime Minister.

"The next year will show that [Gordon] Brown has been underestimated and my guess is that he will turn out to be formidable," he said.
