Ireland takes top place on European wealth list
Independent on Sunday, The, Aug 5, 2007
The number of millionaires in Ireland rose by more than 3,000 last year, according to the Bank of Ireland - an increase of 10 per cent. The average personal wealth of the Irish rose by a fifth to almost [euro]200,000, thanks mainly to soaring property prices. That keeps them top of the European rankings and second in the world, behind the Japanese. And the bank expects Irish personal disposal income to double over the next decade. Britain is fourth in the personal wealth stakes, behind the Italians but ahead of the French. TM
