Eddie Murphy: I am the father of Mel B's child

> The US actor Eddie Murphy yesterday acknowledged that he is the father of Melanie Brown's baby daughter, after the former Spice Girl took legal action to establish him as a parent. Murphy, 46, "always has and will continue to honour his responsibilities as a father", according to a statement. "He acknowledges paternity of the child Angel, and has paid child support to Ms Brown as well as covering the expenses of her pregnancy." Murphy, who has five children from a previous marriage, last week got engaged to a film producer.
