BBC spends [pound]70,000 to take MPs to Glastonbury

The BBC spent almost [pound]70,000 entertaining MPs and guests at this year's Glastonbury Festival, the broadcaster said yesterday. Ten premium tickets for the world-famous music event - each costing the BBC [pound]255 - were handed out to five MPs. Labour MP Sion Simon was given three tickets to the festival, Tories Nick Herbert and Damian Green and Lib Dem Jenny Willott were each given two and Conservative MP Theresa Villiers one.

The cost of tickets for guests, running the BBC's marquee and laying on hospitality came to [pound]68,000.
