Nixon Library forced to remove Watergate 'lies'

Independent on Sunday, The,  Jul 15, 2007

The Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace in Yorba Linda, California, has been forced to demolish a "Watergate gallery" which claimed the scandal was a "coup" by Nixon's rivals and that the investigative team of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein offered bribes for their scoops. Removal of the display, called a "lie" by one prominent historian, was a precondition for receiving 42 million pages of the former president's papers and 4,000 hours of tapes from the US National Archives as the library passed to federal control last week.
