Grade safe from cigar police
Independent on Sunday, The, Jul 1, 2007
AS OF TODAY, SMOKE-FILLED rooms are a thing of the past. Unless, of course, the room is in your home and consenting adults agree that lighting up a cigarette does not constitute assault. But what happens if a smoker decides to have a catered dinner party? That home then becomes the caterers' place of work, so it would be illegal to indulge.
We put this conundrum to cigar chomper and media mogul Michael Grade of ITV. But fortunately, it could never happen to him. "He's a good cook, and probably wouldn't have catered dinner parties," said a spokesperson.
