Transglobal Underground

Independent on Sunday, The,  Jun 3, 2007  by Howard Male

On their seventh album the Brit-Asian collective boldly go where no psychedelic, drum 'n' bass, punk, funk, dub, global beatists have gone before, with the help of an eclectic bunch of guests. "Cape Thunder" is a dark township epic featuring South African vocalist Doreen Thobekile, "Quit Mumblin" sounds like Bo Diddley-meets- bangra, "Awal" features the Iraqi rapper Naufalle and is clearly a homage to his underrated outfit, Aiwa. And Black Sifichi does a good Tom Waits/ Alabama 3 thing on "Swampland". A shamelessly catchy, channel-hopper's guide to the planet's music.
