Lots of bus drivers, but none licensed

Officials in the Sicilian city of Palermo are investigating how it came about that more than 100 bus drivers were employed without driving licences. The city council recruited 110 drivers to keep its buses on the road after many drivers took advantage of Italy's generous early retirement deals.

Opposition councillors revealed many jobs were handed out by other councillors to friends and family.
