Bayliss not impeded by loss of finger

World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss took pole position in Valencia, despite the Australian Ducati Xerox rider having most of his little finger amputated after a crash at Donington Park. Spaniard Ruben Xaus was second and James Toseland third. The Briton leads the standings by five points.
