No need to panic as birthday girl Georgie leads the charge

Independent on Sunday, The,  Apr 15, 2007  by Alan Hubbard Sports Diarist

Georgina Harland celebrated her 29th birthday yesterday. Well, she didn't actually celebrate, as she was preparing to lead the charge of Britain's magnificent seven into the women's finals of the World Cup today. Few in sport are more focused than the redoubtable "Georgie" (pictured), an Olympic bronze medallist in Athens.

Injured for much of last season, this is her first international of a year she hopes will lead to modern pentathlon gold in Beijing 2008. She was once asked what she would do if she wasn't a sportswoman. "Panic," she replied.
