Got your number

Independent on Sunday, The,  Apr 15, 2007  by David Randall

And now, one of the most bizarre love stories of modern times. One night five years ago, David Brown, 19, woke up after a night out with some friends to find a mobile phone number buzzing around his head. Assuming it must have been given him by someone he'd encountered the night before, he texted it with the message: "Did I meet you last night?" The recipient was Michelle Kitson, a 17-year- old student living 60 miles away, in Cambridge.

She had never met him, but eventually, out of curiosity, texted him back. That led to phone calls, letters, exchanges of photographs, and a planned meeting. Her parents were nervous. "What if he's an axe murderer?" they said. He wasn't. The 6ft 7in David fell in love with 5ft 4in Michelle. She came to return his feelings, and last month they married.
