World Markets: Paris

Independent, The (London),  Jul 31, 2002

THE CAC 40 fell 0.47 per cent to end at 3,379.85 as data from the US cast doubts on the prospects for economic recovery. But the tyre maker Michelin bucked the trend, adding 4 per cent after it raised its margin target for the full-year to 7.0-7.4 per cent, from 6.7- 7.4 per cent, and posted better-than-expected first-half profits.

Another hefty gainer was TotalFinaElf, up 1.55 per cent after rises in crude oil futures and positive broker comments.
