Letter: Time to drop this puerile ceremony of `coming out'
Independent, The (London), Jul 31, 2002 by Matthew Edward Brown
Sir: Alan Duncan has been a conscientious and hardworking Member of Parliament for the past decade. He has done much for both Rutland and Melton and for the Conservative Party nationally and to suggest now that Mr Duncan will be any less of an MP because he is openly gay is laughable.
Mr Duncan deserves our support and applause for a courageous and noble decision. He has chosen to be honest with his electorate in a move that is typical of the honest and hardworking MP that he has been over the past decade.
