Blitz on lights

Independent, The (London),  Jul 14, 1998

RESIDENTS in Worcestershire are being urged to become "daylight detectives" to save energy and money.

Worcestershire County Council is concerned about the amount of energy wastage from street lights glowing in the middle of the day.

Now a 24-hour freephone, 0800 137352, has been linked up to take calls from anyone reporting the name of the street and the number of the column on the street light which needs adjusting.

Officials have promised that they will be fixed within eight working days.
