Hypnosis and phantom limb pain research and treatment

American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis,  Apr 2004  by Hammond, D Corydon

Rosen, G. (2003). Hypnosis and phantom limb pain research and treatment. Hypnos, 30(3), 125-135. The author reviews his findings from 5 studies, as well as contemporary research and clinical studies, about what we know about the effects of hypnosis on the brain during different painful conditions and the underlying mechanisms for phantom limb pain and how they may be changed through hypnosis.

he concludes that hypnosis may change the underlying brain activities for phantom limb pain and be a valuable tool for controlling and reducing the experience of pain.
