Seals collects first win of 2005; Walters among other champs

WABASH VALLEY DRAGWAY, Terre Haute, Ind. (April 24) - Three drivers made their way to the winner's circle for the first time this season during the latest points race, which was delayed one day due to weather. Among those collecting first wins for the year was Rick Seals, who wheeled his '7O Olds to a dead-on 6.558 (6.55 dial) to win Super Pro. Lance Stillwell finished second with his Ol Mean Machine dragster after red-lighting by .004-second in the final. Marty Pasko and Denny Zigler were the semifinalists.

Chris Walters won Pro with his '83 Buick, running a 7.88 (7.71) to defeat Steven Thompson's '74 Vega, which broke out with a 7.18 (7.19). Tommy Smith was the lone semifinalist.

In Sportsman, Chris Stephenson ran a near-perfect 8.881 (8.88) with his '74 Apollo to beat Dave Vaughn, who broke out with an 8.068 (8.08) from his '71 Torino. Chad Eaton and Melvin Rose were the semifinalists.

The High School final was decided by a double-breakout with Robert Peffley's 8.043 (8.06) from his '79 Malibu beating Sam Bundy's 9.635 (9.70) from his '94 Pontiac.

KyIe Curtis won Novice Street with his '92 Stealth.

Shane Jones rode his '97 Kawasaki to victory with an 8.159 (8.00). Bradley Miles settled for second after his '02 Suzuki slowed to a 7.507 (7.10).

The all-female Jr. Dragster final was decided by a double-breakout with Jordan Galloway's 8.417 (8.43) beating the 8.973 (9.05) of Jorgi Henson. KyIe Camp ran a 9.34 (9.29) to win Jr. Dragster Consolation over Dion Scott, who broke out with a 9.541 (9.57). - Pam Lobb
