Suzuki renews as official motorcycle, ATV

National Dragster,  Apr 4, 2003

GLENDORA, Calif - Suzuki, a leading manufacturer of motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, automobiles, and outboard motors worldwide, has renewed its sponsorship as the official motorcycle and ATV of NHRA. As part of the multi-year agreement, Suzuki will supply NHRA with motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles for use during the 23-race NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series and the 45-race Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, at five NHRA-owned and -operated facilities and in NHRA's seven geographical divisions, and by the NHRA Safety Safari.

"We are very pleased that Suzuki extended its official status with NHRA," said Bob Wagner, NHRA vice president of sales and business development. "For more than two decades, Suzuki has been an integral part of the success of NHRA's Pro Stock Bike category. Renowned champions like Matt Hines, Angelle Savoie, and Dave Schultz rewrote the NHRA record books while riding a Suzuki. With continued support, NHRA is anticipating even greater achievements with the competition on the track and with future initiatives in marketing and advertising."

Suzuki has been involved with NHRA Championship Drag Racing for more than 20 years. A majority of competitors in NHRA's Pro Stock Bike category compete on Suzuki motorcycles, including many former series champions.

"We're very enthusiastic about maintaining our position as the official motorcycle and ATV of NHRA," said Mel Harris, vice president of Suzuki's motorcycle and marine division. "Through our official sponsorship with NHRA, we have been able to expand Suzuki's presence and brand recognition throughout the automotive marketplace and beyond. As NHRA's popularity continues to rise, we are excited about the new prospects its success will bring."
