Born: to Division 3 Super Stock Racer Brian Butler and his wife, Janell, a daughter, 7-pound, 15-ounce Isabella Grace, Jan. 24. Born: to Division 5 E. T racer John Takacs and his wife, Sheryl, a daughter, 9-pound, 4-ounce Camryn Kathleen, March 2. Born: to Division 3 Super Pro racer George Chernisky and his wife, Street racer Michelle, a daughter, 8-pound, 10-ounce Kaitlyn Elizabeth, March 9.

Kaitlyn's uncle is Division 3 Super Pro racer Mike Myer. Born: to Division 3 Stock racer and 1996 U.S. Nationals runner-up Jim Kaekel Jr. and his wife, Amy, a son, Rodney Walter, March 15. Engaged Three-time NHRA national champion Jeff Taylor to Patty Bowen. Their wedding is planned for the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in November. Married former two-time Lebanon Valley Dragway Jr. Dragster track champion and current NHRA Division 2 Super Comp racer Bill Roberts to Nina Farrell Feb. 14. Died Wayne Mossey, 52, longtime drag racer, car builder, and crew chief for the Time Machine front-engine dragster, after a long battle with cancer, March 18. Died Gary Walter, 61, father of Division 3 Super Stock and Stock racer Mike Walter, of complications from cancer, March 19. Died Division 7 E.T. racer Mark Tomlinson, 58, March 23. Tomlinson's Bird of Prey '71 Thunderbird was a familiar sight at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
