UK dementia congress
The first UK Dementia Congress will be held at the Bournemouth International Centre. It will be a mix of plenary sessions, workshops, research papers and updates, posters and satellite sessions. Perspectives will be on past, current and future treatment and care that takes account of all the important medical, health and social elements. The emphasis will be on UK practice (with some international comparisons) and on hands-on, frontline care, questioning and providing the evidence we have. Speakers include Neil Hunt of the Alzheimer's Society and Professor John Keady of the University of Northumbria. Cost per delegate is £185 plus VAT (one day) or £340 plus VAT (two days). Limiting the damage: Practical harm-minimisation for self-harm
This conference offers Healthcare workers the opportunity to discuss the concept of harm-minimisation, hear from providers and user activists about their experience of putting it into practice and education, along with practical skills sessions on imparting basic information about harm-minimisation to service users. This is the first conference for Healthcare workers on harmminimisation. It is an opportunity for service providers to ascertain what further actions are required to take this concept forward within Healthcare.
