NI suicide prevention

Mental Health Nursing,  Nov 2005

Northern Ireland health Minister Shaun Woodward has welcomed the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People's 'Message to the Minister' suicide prevention initiative.

NICCY want young people to let them know what they think the suicide Taskforce and the Minister should be doing to help young people with mental health issues.

Shaun Woodward said: 'Suicide and self-harm are tragic problems and we all need to work together to find better solutions. I recently established a Taskforce to develop a regional strategy to reduce these unnecessary deaths, particularly among young men. It is currently engaging with a wide range of individuals and organisations.

'I am particularly keen to hear the views of children and young people, and I very much welcome the Commissioner's initiative.'
