Munton Is Director of Nursing

The new national director of nursing for mental health is Rachel Munton who was formerly chair of the Mental Health Nursing Editorial Board. She will take up her position next month and work in tandem with Malcolm Rae until his retirement at the end of March.

Rachel (pictured) is a former CPN and project manager and has recently been working with Leicester Health Action Zone.

She succeeds Malcolm Rae who is stepping down after five years in the post. Mr Rae said there had been an `unprecedented focus' on mental health at a national level in the previous four and a half years with major changes in policy and service delivery.

"It has been challenging for nurses to be at the forefront of this and to have a government that regards nursing as the centrepiece of modernisation."

There will be a profile of Rachel Munton In the March issue
