Mental Health Nursing, Dec 2001
'Laying the Cornerstones - valuing mental health nursing' is an important national mental health nursing conference jointly sponsored by the CPNA, RCN and UNISON. It will replace the event previously organised by the English National Board and will be held at Robinson College, Cambridge on July 8 and 9 next year
The organisers have issued a call for papers and poster sessions and the deadline for this is January 21st. This year will see significant changes in the organisation and roles of mental health nursing services and in the structure of nursing education.
Keynote papers will feature on the cutting edge issues while concurrent sessions touch on the range of good practice throughout the country. These form a vital part of the conference and abstracts are invited from nurses, educationalists, managers, service users and carers plus professionals working in education and service in mental health. Each session is one hour long with the paper lasting about half that time.
Poster presentations are invited from all health care professionals, service users and carers. The poster should be put up before the start of conference. Boards will be provided.
Papers and poster presentations will be selected using criteria including relevance to conference theme, national initiatives and to other professional groups involved in caring for those who use mental health services, reflecting innovation and having a strong research/evidence base.
Abstracts should be up to 300 words long. There are full details from the conference organisers including application forms in electronic form to submit papers and presentations.
