The Mental Health Taskforce - set up to help implement the NHS Plan - will be asked to look at black and minority ethnic mental health, health minster John Hutton has announced. Other developments in the field include collaboration between the Mental Health Act Commission, the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health and the University of Lancashire to look at ethnic monitoring and racial harassment.

A specific monitoring exercise which will take place to find out about the experiences of black and minority ethnic people when using mental health services. And the Royal College of Psychiatrists have been asked to develop cultural awareness training to improve the knowledge of those who deliver the services.
