Changing Minds Campaign

Mental Health Nursing,  Nov/Dec 2000

The Changing Minds Campaign organised by the Royal College of Psychiatrists to reduce the stigma attached to mental disorders launched two new initiatives on World Mental Health Day on 10th October.

A two-minute cinema trailer, Say What You Think, which challenges stereotypes of mental illness and our attitudes towards people with mental health problems was shown before every 15 and 18 certificate Warner Brothers film throughout the UK The campaign also launched a new antistigma project called Headstuff for young people aged between 14 and 17. The project aims to challenge adolescent stereotypes of people with mental illness. The initiative will provide young people with the facts and also suggest how they can help if they are worried about relatives.
