This new multi-authored and impressively referenced book provides both a good grounding and an in-depth knowledge on psycho-pharmacology related to schizophrenia and mood disorders. Divided into three sections, section one discusses interventions for schizophrenia, section two mood disorders (equally divided between anti-depressants and mood stabilisers) while section three covers issues as diverse as drug interactions, prescribing for young or old clients as well as a discussion on pharmacoeconomics and resource allocation.

The chapters are well organised, have a clear approach and do not demand great prior knowledge of pharmacology Good as a general reference book and easy to dip into, it describes the many newly developed as well as the traditional drugs used in psychiatry.

More suitable for those with a specific interest in psychopharmacology and perhaps more appropriate for prescribers, this still provides a valuable resource in medication management but its cost may make it prohibitive for many
