ALBERTA REGISTERED NURSES EDUCATIONAL TRUST: Promoting Nursing Excellence
Alberta RN, Feb 2006
With the 2005 statistics now in, the Alberta Registered Nurses Educational Trust (ARNET) is pleased to announce that we have kept our promise of increasing educational supports to Alberta's registered nurses (RNs). In 2005, we distributed $678,000 to Alberta RNs.
Since 2001, we have distributed more than $1.75 million in support of continuing nursing education and we are committed to increasing the funding distributed each year. Our donors and educational partners have assisted us in this remarkable achievement and, on behalf of every Alberta RN, we want to thank them for their vision and support.
From local and international conferences to support of specialty nursing certification to degree level studies-ARNET and its donors have assisted Alberta's RNs in achieving their educational goals. But as impressive as distributing $678,000 in 2005 funding sounds, we are still not meeting the needs of CARNA members. In 2005 alone, our total requests for educational supports exceeded $1.35 million; money for essential educational programs that ensure Alberta's registered nurses are prepared for the realities of our health-care system today and into the future. For 2006, ARNET has designated $731,660 towards educational funding.
In 2000, the ARNET board made a commitment to Alberta's registered nurses: to increase the amount of educational funding support distributed to RNs each and every year. With ongoing donor support and the development of new educational partnerships, we look forward to a time when we are able to support the educational requests of each and every applicant for educational funding. With your donation and support, we can make this goal a reality.
