San Francisco update

Human Events,  Nov 26, 1999  by Gizzi, John

Two weeks ago, in our coverage of the San Francisco mayor's race, we reported that incumbent Willie Brown would face former Mayor (1991-95) Frank Jordan in the runoff December 14. Although Jordan held the second-place spot most of the night, late returns instead gave it to Tom Ammiano, president of the City Board of Supervisors, who entered the mayoral race late as a write-in candidate.

Should Ammiano unseat Brown next month, he would be the first openly homosexual mayor of a major city.
