Editor's Notes
Anglican Theological Review, Fall 2006 by Wondra, Ellen K
In this final issue of Volume 88 of the Anglican Theological Review we acknowledge and thank our many supporters. Some are authors who donate royalties or speaker's fees; others are parishes and dioceses and seminaries: yet others are individuals from all over the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church of Canada and beyond. We are deeply grateful to each and all of them for their vital assistance in continuing the work of this journal.
We are also profoundly grateful to those who support the Seminaries Abroad Gift Program and the Overseas Subscription Fund. The Seminaries Abroad Gift Program provides the ATR to Anglican and other seminaries and houses of study around the world. For institutions whose resources are often severely limited, recemng the ATR helps faculty and students leant more about what is going on elsewhere in the church. The list of recipients of these gift subscriptions is always growing, and it makes enjoyable reading for anyone interested in theological education in the Anglican Communion. The Overseas Subscription Fund is an outgrowth of this subscription program, responding to requests from missionaries, scholars, clergy, and others who serve the Anglican Communion beyond the North Atlantic and whose income does not allow them to subscribe. We thank the contributors to these programs for their involvement in the church's mission and ministry in this way.
With this issue, we also bid hail and farewell to three stalwart ant! regular contributors to these pages. Susan E. Laws's work as Assistant Editor came to an end on June 30. The Board, the editors, and the staff thank Susan for her work on so many aspects of the ATR, from tracking the many details of the annual meeting of the Board to her scrupulous copy-editing and proof-reading of every page of each issue. We wish her Godspeed in her future endeavors.
David Middleton has concluded ten years as the ATR's Poetry Editor. Headers often list the poetry as one of their favorite parts of the journal. This is a reflection of David's fine work over the years. The Board has also enjoyed David's offerings of poetry at many of our annual meeting dinners. We are seeking a new Poetry Editor who will be a worthy successor to David.
Robert B. Slocum has brought ATR readers a series of interesting and informative articles through his work as Review Article Editor. Because of Rob's sense of the genre and his knowledge of the various fields of general theological study, we have been able to publish assessments of various authors' lifetime work (as in this issue's review article by John Macquarrie) and of various significant theological developments (as in Grant LeMarquand's review of biblical exegesis in Africa, published in the Spring issue), Rob will continue his involvement with the ATR as a member of the Board, and we are looking forward to publishing and reviewing more of his own work in the years to come.
This also seems an opportune moment to acknowledge and thank all the volunteers and work-study students who work with the regular staff to keep our operations running smoothly. The students move on, generally to parish ministries, and we hope their experience with the ATR gives them some of the skill and the patience needed to deal with daily church life.
