Conjecture of a Guilty Bystander

Anglican Theological Review,  Winter 1999  by Allchin, A M

3. Thomas Merton, Conjecture of a Guilty Bystander (London: Burns and Oates, 1955).

Of all Merton's autobiographical books this is the one which strikes me most, with its reflections on current events, including Vatican II and the death of John F. Kennedy, and its revelation of Merton's dialogue with Bonhoeffer, an ecumenical conversation still full of significance and i.e.: still very much alive.
