Preparation day
Anglican Theological Review, Summer 1998 by Kinsella, Sean
the dove which nests in the cleft
of a wound in which I've a part
is a whiteness gently resting
before a quiet, broken heart
below the cross is room to love
the time of dying a loss endured
behind a stone his body laid
the mercy of God thus immured
sorrow wrapped around his bones
his skin shines whiter than the shroud
in the newness of a borrowed tomb
the promise of love is a space allowed
the suffering of the wound of love
is a loneliness which I have made
within my weeping, contrite heart
there his pierced heart is laid
